Language and the Space in-between Zine
‘Language and the Space in-between’ is an exhibition centered entirely around the theme of language. The artists, consisting of 17 female creators are all exploring the power that language poses, its semiotics, symbolic and aesthetic purposes. We are considering what it is to be told, to be confused, to be interpreted and misunderstood. Many artists are addressing language through the consideration of loss of mother tongue. We also have a strong use of poetry in the exhibition, with artists exploring their relationship with language, with reading, with words- considering what they mean and what they can be made to mean.
100% of profits from the sale of the zines went to Artists in transit and Choose Love.
A research exhibition was held to support this project in December 2021 at Leeds University.
